NATIONAL INVESTOR RELATIONS INSTITUTE NAMES MATTHEW D. BRUSCH AS VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATION
Vienna, VA – The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) announced today the appointment of Matthew D. Brusch as vice president of communication for the association effective May 29, 2007.
Brusch will be responsible for developing and implementing a national media relations program, supervising production of association publications, and identification of developing issues of interest to members, the media and the public. He will also work with the CEO, NIRI Chairman and senior staff to implement the association’s communication strategy and plan.
“I am delighted to have someone with Matt’s investor relations experience in this critical position," said Linda Y. Keller, Interim CEO of NIRI. “His experience as a communication and investor relations professional will prove to be a valuable asset to NIRI and NIRI members.”
“I’ve been a member of NIRI since 1998, and in that time NIRI has been an invaluable resource in my professional development,” Brusch said. “I am thrilled to join the premier investor relations professional organization, and look forward to assisting NIRI accomplish its mission through a comprehensive communications program.”
Brusch brings more than ten years of integrated communications experience to NIRI. Before joining NIRI, he worked at Tier Technologies, Inc. a government services provider, where he served as director of communications beginning in 2004. Brusch’s responsibilities included managing all communications with and outreach to the media and the investment community, and serving as corporate spokesperson. He developed and implemented an annual national media relations program for Tier’s Official Payments Corp. subsidiary which increased media pickup significantly.
Prior to Tier Technologies, Brusch worked from 1999 to 2003 at Cysive, Inc. as investor relations manager and public relations manager. Responsibilities at this Nasdaq-listed IT services provider included serving as the primary contact for the investment community, and managing corporate public relations and media relations.
Brusch’s work experience also includes Datastream Systems, Inc., where he was investor relations manager, and four years with the NASDAQ Stock Market. His most recent position at NASDAQ was director of market services, where he was the primary NASDAQ contact for executive officers and board members of listed companies, and marketed NASDAQ to pre-IPO companies.
From 1987 to 1993, Brusch served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He held positions of increasing responsibility as a Surface Warfare Officer, and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for superior performance.
Brusch is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, and the Capital Area Chapter of NIRI. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Management from Pennsylvania State University.
